Multimillion dollar boost to home of the Pickers
Maitland Pickers' players and fans were given 8.6 million reasons to celebrate today following news of a major upgrade to the facilities at Maitland Sportsground.
NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell announced $5.6 million would be allocated to the project from the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund, with a further $3 million in funds from Maitland City Council.
The sportsground will be upgraded over four stages, with the first stage to include the demolition of the out-dated grandstand and the construction of a new, modern strucuture (pictured).
An overall master plan has been developed for the facility by the council.
